Standing The Test Of Time: Bean Bag Refills
Bean bags have been a staple of homes all around the world since the 1960s but have now rediscovered the height of their popularity. More and more companies are selling bean bags to keep up with the demand because they are as popular now as they ever have been. With the reputation for comfort that the bean bag has achieved over the years, it is no wonder that we are continuously wearing out our beloved bean bags and scouring the market for a new one that is equally as comfortable as the one we already have. However, you will never have to search for a new bean bag again after reading this article. The era of the bean bag refills has dawned. Why replace your favourite bean bag when you can just repair it and regain that comfortable spot that you love so much?
Bean bag refills are the perfect antidote to wear and tear. As with any other item of home furnishing, the bean bag will degrade and deflate as the materials inside begin to weaken and break down. The Styrofoam used for the beads is actually inflated with heat treatment so consistent use will push the air out of them and cause your bean bag to deflate. However, those beads are readily available for bean bag fillings. The process is so simple that it can be done at home, but you first have to choose the right bean bag filling for you.
The Price Of The Beanie
Your favourite bean bag is a lot cheaper to repair than it would be to go out and buy a new one. Bean bag refills are sold by most furniture stores that stock bean bags and are usually less than half the price of a new bean bag. Of course, the overall cost of the bean bag fillings largely depend on the type of filling that you buy. There are two main types of bean bag filling you can choose from. Although there is little difference, personal preference will usually determine the one you choose.
Virgin Bean Bag Refills
Virgin bean bag refills are the little spheres that you commonly find in a bean bag of roughly 1mm in diameter. If you had virgin beads in your bean bag before then you may want to choose these because they will afford you the same comfort, feel and look as the bean bag you have now does. They are all of a uniform size and move well together to mould to your shape slightly more effectively. Of course, there are larger beads available for bean bag fillings so you do have to check the sort you already have. This is generally the most expensive bean bag filling around, but also the best as they have the longevity that other beads lack.
Reground Bean Bag Refills
Reground bean bag refills are recycled beads that are made from various plastics. Whilst they are more environmentally friendly, reground bean bag filling beads do not have a uniform size or shape and thus do not mould to the body as well as virgin ones. This may be a touch more uncomfortable, although you are doing your bit for the environment. It is also cheaper than other refills. However, the beads do not tend to last as long, which may work out more expensive in the long run.
